Display the people

Black History is full of important people which made great strides for the cause. You can help to highlight these people and their accomplishments by displaying them on your wall. You could choose people from throughout the whole history or choose to focus on a certain movement, or even focus on Black Woman.

Create a timeline

Black History covers a very wide range of time, all the way up to present day. You could help your class better understand significant dates by displaying a timeline of key moments in history.

Sounds of the Movement

If you want your classroom to be a bit more musical, you could display the lyrics of some of the songs from the movement. From the songs of the underground railroad, to Jazz and Soul. There are so many great examples of music throughout Black History which you could display and even learn to sing in your classroom.

Encourage the children to read these books when possible to further their understanding of the topic. There are books aimed at every age and ability!
