The Benefits Of Walking To School.
Walking keeps you fit.
Walking is one of the most over looked forms of exercise ever. Believe it or not, it takes over 200 muscles to allow your body to walk and improves your sleep, cardiovascular health and even improves your bone and muscle strength! Not bad to say it doesn’t feel like exercise…
Helps your mental health.
Just a 20 minute walk a day can boost your mood, reduce stress and anxiety, helps you to sleep better AND improves focus. Why? Well, let’s look at the science. Walking increases blood circulation to the brain which then lifts the mood and decreases stress response. Walking also stimulated the release of feel good hormones such as dopamine, serotonin AND endorphins just to name a few.
Helps you socialise.
Put the phones down and get the whole gang together to walk to school! You’ll be surprised how much you can learn about one another once you start a stroll together... Why not spice things up and play some games whilst on your way to school too!?
Increased Independence and confidence.
This teaches you some serious independence because you simply have to have your wits about you whilst walking to school! Road signs. Cars. People- You have to be aware, and walking to school hones this social skill and will help you all the way up to adulthood.
