November is here!

Konflux Theatre, November, blog, November is here, theatre in education, KS1, KS2, key stage 1, key stage 2, anti-bullying, road safety, remembrance day, guy fawkes, bonfire night, fireworks

Welcome back! We hope everyone had a wonderful half term and spook-tacular Halloween!

“Remember, remember the 5th of November…” Yep, that’s right Guy Fawkes Night is this Tuesday and with our Play in a Day ‘The Gunpowder Plot’  we will be looking at this time of spies, plotting, traitors and gunpowder. Thirteen conspirators, thirty barrels of gunpowder and one rather nervous Guido Fawkes caught looking very shifty indeed! Is your school looking at this infamous moment in history?

Next up, we move along to Monday 11th November and this year’s Remembrance Day. We will be looking at the First World War through our In Flanders Field workshop and our KS2 Play in a Day, All the King’s Men’. We will be looking at what happened in 1914 and why? Who got caught up in it and suffered the devastating consequences? What if you didn't want to fight?

From Monday 11th – Friday 15th November, we are once again taking part in the extremely popular Anti-Bullying Week; this year’s theme is, ‘Change Starts with Us’. We are working with schools from across the UK and the Republic of Ireland on our Anti-Bullying workshops such as: Trouble in the Toybox’ and Magic Carpet’ for KS1 and for KS2 #NoLaughingMatter’ which defines bullying and how it can be resolved, Click Safe’ which looks at cyber-bullying and e-safety and Football Crazy’, which examines bullying and racism through the eyes of children, plus many others. These workshops are current all year round and we are looking forward to seeing so many of you in this week!

Road Safety Week 2019 takes place from Monday 18th – Friday 22nd November. Learning how to be safe by the roads is so important when you're young. There can be distractions. They're everywhere these days! People sending and receiving texts, listening to music, chattering away with family or friends... all of them lost in the moment. So who's actually concentrating on getting across the road safely? Our workshops Eyes Open, Stay Safe’ and Streets Ahead’ are perfect for any students exploring issues around road safety.

It’s going to be a really fantastic month and we can’t wait to see lots of you in Anti-Bullying Week… see you then!

If you would like any further information about the workshops we can offer, please get in touch! You can fill in an online contact form, email us, or call 01937 832740.
