Hertfordshire Council supports Sustainable Travel

Sustainable Travel with Hertfordshire Council and Konflux Theatre

Konflux Theatre and Hertfordshire County Council has been working in partnership since January working together on writing, developing and delivering a Sustainable Travel Play in a Day for Key Stage 2.

Together we have delivered our Sustainable Travel Play in a Day to over 700 pupils!

The plays were performed to the rest of their schools, peers, teachers and parents. This inspires confidence and team building skills and also encourages learning about sustainable travel, not just for the children taking part in the play but to those adults and children watching.

Sustainable travel is an important topic which is becoming increasingly important to cover in schools. This Play in a Day covers important sustainable travel issues such as, Climate Change, Global Warming, pollution and sustainable travel choices including riding a bike and walking. It also covers Road Safety and how to be safe on the roads with a particular focus on “Stop Look Listen and Think”.

The schools in Hertfordshire who took part had some wonderful things to say about the Play in a Day. 9 out of the 9 staff who filled out a feedback form put that the workshop leaders performance wasExcellent’ and that they would all have this Play in a day again.

Here is just a snippet of what else they had to say about ‘Be Active. Act Now!’

“The children had a brilliant day of drama; I particularly liked the way the play build up in sections.  The leader was very professional and had an excellent rapport with the children”

St Michael’s Woolmer Green, February 2019.

“The children had a great day, they were engaged and learnt a lot and thoroughly enjoyed performing what they had learnt to parents and the other children. We felt the day ran smoothly and seemed very organised. The lady who ran the course – Emma was great with the children and made them feel very comfortable. She was clear with the instructions and kept the children engaged”

Summerswood Primary School, January 2019.
