Back to Blog!

Hello and welcome back to the Konflux Theatre in Education Blog! It’s been a hot minute since our last entry but we’re back!

So… what’s happened since our last entry back in August 2020?

In the second national lockdown in England, we were able to deliver a number of completely Covid-19 secure workshops to schools across the country. It was a genuine pleasure to be back in schools, particularly after a tough start to the year for everyone.

The start of 2021 brought more full lockdowns, which of course resulted in postponing workshops. Things brightened up when March rolled around though – Konflux were back in schools doing what we do best! Not only were we able to return to schools in England, but Wales welcomed us back too! From April to July we continued to deliver workshops - our facilitators well and truly shook the cobwebs off.

After multiple successful Summer School programmes, September arrived and we knuckled down to booking in workshops, writing new scripts and organising tours.

Brand new for September 2021 we were thrilled to present:

The History Train

Livi and friends are really excited, a new theme park has just opened, and they’ve got tickets. The park boasts all kinds of different rides, including the History Train, an innovative ride that can take you back anywhere through the annals of time. Join the gang as their journey takes them back to discover a collection of stories about black history, heritage, culture and achievements.

Animal Magic

How do Jaguars climb trees? What do Whales eat? Where do Squirrels live? Answers to these questions and many more can be found in our fun, interactive, high-energy, hour-long workshop for KS1 students. Led by one of our facilitators, students will explore how different animals move, learn about what they eat and understand the differences between habitats around the world.

Not Guilty, Your Honour!

You thought eating sprouts was a punishment? Or finishing your homework? Well let us take you on a journey through British history to discover how crime and punishment was created, used and evolved throughout different eras.

  • Who decided what crimes should be policed?
  • Who was policing?
  • What types of punishments existed and what they entailed?
  • How the population dealt and evolved with them

From the Romans to World War 2, follow our characters as they discover the dark side to punishments, and we don’t mean sprouts.....maybe!

Beanstalks! (And How to Climb Them)

Beanstalk Image

It’s panto time (oh, yes it is!) and Konflux have the perfect laugh-out-loud Christmas treat for KS1 or KS2 classes… the thrilling pantomime story of Jack and the Beanstalk!

Follow Jack and friends as they journey up the beanstalk on a magical and hilarious quest! Golden geese, giants and gags galore are guaranteed in this heart-warming festive treat, which teaches us the importance of friendship and being there for each other in tricky times!

BEANSTALKS! (And How To Climb Them) is a brand-new Panto in a Day that will bring all the fun of the pantomime to your school hall (with a few important messages, too!)

These workshops have been a fantastic addition to our repertoire of topics, and we’re already brainstorming new ideas based on changes in curriculum, current affairs and your enquiries!

That brings us nicely to this month, October 2021 - keep an eye out for the October Round-Up which will be published at the end of the month.

If there’s anything you’d like to see on our blog feel free to send us an email or message on social media and we’ll see what we can do.

Thanks Everyone!
