Where else celebrates VE Day?

1- France

Similarly to the UK, France sing patriotic songs and proudly display their flags on their homes and buildings! Many people also attend parades and church services to remember those who fought in the war.

2- Poland

VE Day is known as Narodowy Dzień Zwycięstwa in Poland and they also have a day of remembrance and celebration. Government representatives, veterans and the general public attend official ceremonies across the whole country, and you’ll find streets decorated with wreaths and flowers alongside Military Parades and local festivities.

3- Austria

You’ll find events like the Festival Of Joy happening in Austria’s capital commemorating VE Day! This event features speeches, lectures, fireworks and the laying of white roses at memorials as a commitment to never forgetting the Holocaust and being against war and fascism.

  • Hitler’s nephew was British.
  • Poland had a fighting brown bear which later became a corporal…That’s right, a Syrian Brown Bear! He even carried ammunition boxes and drank beer in the evenings.
