As we celebrate one of the greatest scientific minds of all time, he is often only remembered for his great achievements, but was there more to the man than science? In Honour of his birthday we have brought you 5 fascinating  facts about Albert Einstein! 

Einstein was a member of the NAACP

When moving to America, he racial divide deeply troubled him. This prompted him to write the essay 'The Negro Question'. 

Einstein didn't love school

Although doing very well in his classes, Einstein did not like the way he was taught in school. He thought that modern teaching methods did not allow for people to be curious.

The FBI spied on him!

Einstein's support for the civil rights and Jewish communities made him suspicious according to J.Edgar Hoovers FBI. The FBI conducted a 22 year surveillance which included listening to his phone class, reading his emails and even going through his trash!

Einstein slept for 10 hours a day

We all need sleep for our brains to function effectively , and Einstein was no exception. In fact, he would sleep for 10 hours a day and held sleep in very high regard.

Einstein's brain was stolen!

After Einstein died the pathologist who was in charge of the autopsy removed his brain without the family's permission in hopes of studying what made Einstein so intelligent. It was cut in to pieces and sent to several neuroscientist labs.
