Roald Dahl Day Activities

Roald Dahl Day Activities

Roald Dahl Day is celebrated around the world on the 13th September every year to commemorate the life and works of the esteemed author Roald Dahl. Many schools celebrate this day by dressing up as their favourite character, but there are so many other activities you could do! In this blog we have brought together just some of our favourite Roald Dahl themed activities for you to try in your classroom!

Create a bookmark

What better way to read their favourite Roald Dahl book than with a special book mark! There are so many ways you could do this from printing a design from the internet to drawing their favourite character and decorating a piece of card.

Create your own character

Part of what makes Roald Dahls stories so popular is the iconic characters, after a discussion or two about some of these characters why not ask the children to create their own character which could been right out of a Roald Dahl story? This could be done through a gingerbread man style design and include as much detail as you wish, you could ask them to think about how the character would walk, talk, what they would eat and even how they would smell.

Play name that quote!

Think your class would recognise those iconic quotes? Why not play a game of ‘name that quote’ and see if they can figure out which book or film the quote is from. You could even have a prize for the winning pupil/team.

Make a golden Ticket

Who doesn’t want their very own golden ticket? Making one could not be easier with some simple gold card and black pens! If you want to make it extra special use some shiny card to give it that extra sparkle. And if you’re feeling generous, you could even give then a chocolate bar to wrap it around or hide it in!
