National Storytelling Week Activities

National Storytelling Week Activities

National Storytelling Week might not be one that's on your radar, but here at Konflux we believe it is so important! Telling stories is not only good for the imagination, but they can also help to inform and inspire. To help inspire you we have gathered together some of our favourite activities for your classroom!

What is National Storytelling Week?

This fantastic annual event by National Literacy Trust is a joyful celebration of the power of sharing stories. And this years' theme is: Dream Up a World.

Book Swap- What's your favourite world?

Encourage your class to share their favourite worlds by bringing in their books and even swapping them with each other. This allows children to share something they are interested in whilst also discovering new stories.

Story Generating

Writing a story might be an obvious activity, but what to write about can be a difficult start for any author. Why not play a game or 2 to generate ideas. You could take it in turns to add a word to the story, each write a sentence of a story or give them a character to start them off.

Explore Storytelling Mediums

When thinking about storytelling, a book might be the first thing you think of. But there are so many ways of storytelling from music, plays and poetry to photography and art. Why not explore these different mediums? You could even challenge your class to try a few of them.

Have a Workshop!

A perfect way to celebrate National Storytelling Week is with a fantastic Literacy based workshop. Check out our full range of workshops here!
