Play In A Day

This physical and fast moving workshop highlights many of the problems facing the safeguarding, storage, production and delivery of quality fresh water supplies.

The way we treat our water has a significant environmental impact. The services that so many of us take for granted require a small army of people behind the scenes - from the taps in our kitchen to the increasing changes in global weather systems. We all waste so much water without thinking or even realising.

This Play in a Day explores many examples of this and looks at the very simple but significant differences we can make. Economy programmes on the washing machine, rationed water to brush teeth, taking a shower versus taking a bath… the list goes on, but the point is that we all have a responsibility for water conservation - no change is too small. Where’s the logic in shipping bottled water? What’s the environmental impact of over using the reservoirs? What do communities in hotter foreign countries have to go through to maintain a basic steady supply of water…? What alternatives are there to just pouring it all away?

Working together as actors to create a fun, action-packed short performance, informing as much as it entertains, students will explore a wide range of topical issues.
