Playinaday - Teacher Feedback from 2010/11

I am writing to thank you for the "Play in a Day" workshop your company ran for us yesterday. The practitioner, Sara, was outstanding - she was friendly, professional, had great behaviour management skills and a creative and effective way of working with young people. I can honestly say this is the first time in a long time that I have had a practitioner in school who genuinely is worth the money! The play that our students developed and performed was fantastic and enjoyed by all the year 9s and 10s who watched it and most importantly the performers were really proud of what they did.

Nicky Goulding, Accrington Academy, Lancashire

Initially, the workshop was not planned for my class and I was concerned that the content would not be suitable. However, Clem arrived and he had the whole class totally involved in the first few minutes.

When the children started learning the words and actions for the play, it was good to see the confidence levels rising and the whole class were committed. They supported each other throughout the day. They enjoyed performing their play in front of several classes and received loud applause for their effort. It was a long but rewarding day.

A big 'thank you' to Clem who related well to all the children and he never lost his sense of humour throughout the day!

Pauline Hilary, Thomas Walling Primary School, Newcastle upon Tyne

Today's Play in a Day was a fantastic experience. All the children were involved, even the hard to reach ones who would normally find it difficult to become involved in something of this nature.

Janice Reynolds, Newburgh Primary School, Lancashire

Wow what a brilliant day my class had with Matt. He was fantastic and such a good teacher, keeping the class engaged all day. His manner and enthusiasm kept them on task which in turn, prevented any issues with behaviour.

Our topic at the moment is ancient Egypt, so this play really fitted in with what we are doing. I was especially impressed with the way he involved the quieter children in the play, they all had parts and words to say. The children left the day feeling that they had achieved something of value and in the process also had a lot of fun. The rest of the school were also impressed by the finished result.

Tracey Kay, Wharrier Street Primary School, Newcastle upon Tyne

Our students found the workshop stimulating and engaging. They were encouraged to develop their skills and their confidence developed visibly during the session. They delivered the messages within the play in a clear and entertaining way and enjoyed working as a team. Their year group also really enjoyed watching their peers perform.
